What planet are you from? I got involved in non-hierarchical activism to get away from all that fascist appraisal “you -are-not-good-enough shit. I want to be a good person. Is that so bad? And now you want to bring the whole bureaucratic get-inside-their-heads surveillance thing into one of the last free zones there is!!! You’re either a dupe or a cop.
No, it’s not at all so bad that you want to be a good person. But if “the movement” is to grow, learn, organise, win, then everyone who is a part of it, either ‘centrally’ or ‘peripherally’ has to look to see whether they could do what they do better. This is NOT a system anyone has to have imposed on them (how could it be?!). You choose to do it or not. Take what works for you, leave what doesn’t. The idea of the personal development plan is that YOU choose the things you want/need to get better at, and pursue them.
You’re making this far more complicated and less fun that it should be- you’ll put people off being part of the movement. CADS would stop it growing, which you claim is your goal.
Yes, it might put some people off, if presented to them as a “you must do this or else”. But then, how many people are put off by the lack of seriousness, or structured learning and opportunities for reflection and hotwash? How many drift off, fed up with half-arsed self-indulgence, eh? We don’t know, because we don’t notice the ones who don’t come back after one or two meetings…
